Vi (Vodafone Idea) was formed in 2018. It provides 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE services, mostly via prepaid/postpaid plans.

Despite losing users, Vi still serves 204 million customers and remains the third-largest mobile provider in India.

Coverage challenges & 5G plans

Vi covers ~84% of the population with 4G but lags behind in rural reach.

5G rollout began late (2024) and is live in select metros only. It’s upgrading 4G towers and reusing spectrum from phased-out 3G sites. Network quality varies by region.
