Openreach runs the UK’s largest broadband network: the copper and fibre lines, street cabinets and exchanges used by more than 650 providers. It has operated as a separate company within BT Group since 2017, and its full-fibre network was ready for about 23.6 million premises in September 2026.

If your broadband drops with BT, EE, Plusnet, Sky, TalkTalk or Vodafone, the fault often sits on an Openreach line or cabinet rather than with the provider itself. Openreach engineers carry out the repair, but the fault has to be reported through your provider.
